Building a trading review routine you will actually keep
Reviews fail for boring reasons: they take too long, they need data you have to assemble by hand, and they produce advice too vague to check. Fix those three and the routine survives.
Daily: five minutes, facts only
At the end of the session, confirm your trades are recorded, tag the setup and any mistake, and write one line per trade. Do not analyse. Do not compute statistics. The daily pass exists so the weekly pass has clean data.
Weekly: thirty minutes, one conclusion
Read the week's net result, trade count, profit factor, expectancy, average win and average loss, and the calendar view. Then find the single most expensive pattern and write one measurable rule.
Resist the urge to change your strategy weekly. Most weeks the correct output is "keep doing the same thing, with this one constraint added".
- What was the most expensive habit this week?
- Which rule did I break most often?
- What is the one rule for next week, and how will I check it?
Monthly: an hour, structural questions
Monthly is where breakdowns by symbol, session, weekday and setup earn their keep. You have enough trades for the groupings to mean something, and enough distance to notice a regime change.
Also review your rulebook itself: which rules were kept without effort, which were broken repeatedly, and which turned out to be measuring nothing.
Remove the assembly work
The largest single cost in most routines is gathering data. If your review starts with exporting reports and pasting them into a spreadsheet, it will be skipped in the weeks you most need it.
SeeResult removes that step by syncing your MT5 trades automatically and computing the same metrics on every screen, so a review starts at the interpretation rather than the data entry. Professional adds the symbol, session, weekday and month breakdowns used in the monthly pass.
